Impact of Technology Decisions on Water Availability
This tool illustrates the impact of your decisions on how much rice is produced, but also how much water you use and how much flows downstream. Can you improve crop production without harming downstream irrigation? How will this change with climate change? It is based on the project’s land use, population, climate, crop, and hydrology models.
Instructions
On the following pages, you will be prompted to select a sub-basin, a time period, a percentage of cropped land under irrigation, and an irrigation technology to use on the crops. The results will be provided on the amount of crop produced, but also how much water you use in your sub-basin for irrigation and any impact on downstream water availability.
